Is Hiking My Feelings for me?
Should I come see this talk? Is it for me?
If you have recently been diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes and need some inspiration to cut through the mental fog and redirect your focus, this is for you.
If you're a survivor of any kind of trauma and want to feel a little less alone, this is for you. #metoo
If you are interested in hearing a first-person take on how hiking can help us heal our minds and bodies, this is for you.
If you know you've been wanting to make some changes in your life and you need a little permission to go ahead and just do it already, this is for you.
I'm not a doctor.
I'm not a therapist.
I'm a woman who wants to live her best life, unapologetically.
I'm a flawed human who is always doing the work to unlearn the things that hold me back from being my best self.
I'm a survivor of sexual assault who has worked really really hard to undo the chaos that followed the most violent thing that's ever happened to me.
I'm a Type 2 Diabetic whose disease is currently in remission.
I'm a recovering marketer who is working to use her skills for good, not to sell you more stuff you don't really need.
I'm Sydney, and it is my mission to help folks turn their pain into power. I've lived this. I'm still doing this. I won't pretend that I've got it all figured out, and I'll be spending the rest of my life unpacking my #traumapack.
I'm a firm believer that the only way we break down stigmas around the stuff we've survived and the stuff we're still dealing with is to talk about it. Call a thing a thing. Even if that conversation is only with yourself - that's a great place to start.
Can't make it to a talk? Share this post and let folks know about #hikingmyfeelings - we're taking this talk around the country and we hope to share it with as many people as we possibly can.
