Talk 18 - Salem REI

My heart was full before we stepped inside, because our friends Raelynn and Travis drove from their #tinyhouse in the woods in Washington all the way down to Salem.

You know how with some friends you can pick right up where you left off? That happened.

We haven't seen Raelynn and Travis since they left the skydiving center where we were all working/training in 2014, and this catchup was long overdue. Last time I saw them, I was begging them not to leave because:

  1. They are good people, like, THE BEST HUMANS.

  2. We were all in various stages of planning our Tiny lives. At the time, Barry and I were 3/4 of the way through casting for Tiny House Nation and Raelynn and Travis were getting ready to start building their own #tinyhouseonwheels. They were some of the only folks we knew who didn't look at us like we were crazy when we said we wanted to do this. We talked about permaculture, homesteading, and all things tiny living.

  3. Selfishly, Raelynn was also my massage therapist when I was a competitive skydiver and Travis packed my parachute, and between the two of them, I felt safe, healthy, and cared for in the sky and on the ground and I didn't want them to leave.

Fast forward to Monday: they built their tiny house and live in the woods in Washington, Barry and I have been in the van for eight months, and none of us skydive anymore.

One of my favorite parts of the tour is how this journey empowers us to catch up with our friends all over the country. We caught up before the talk and then had a delicious dinner afterwards and my heart is SO SO SO SO full.

Thank you both for driving all that way to see us, for bringing your amazing energy, and for a wonderful evening of storytelling, delicious food, and good vibes. We love you both SO much!
